Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
Movers Surrey is committed to conducting business ethically and with integrity in all our operations. We recognise our responsibility to identify, prevent, and address modern slavery and human trafficking within our organisation and supply chains. This statement sets out the steps we take to reduce the risk of modern slavery and how we monitor and improve our performance on an ongoing basis.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Movers Surrey provides professional moving and relocation services to residential and commercial customers. Our operations rely on a range of suppliers and contractors, including vehicle and equipment providers, packaging manufacturers, storage facilities, cleaning services, and labour agencies. We understand that some of these relationships may present a higher risk of labour exploitation, particularly where supply chains extend beyond the United Kingdom.
Zero-Tolerance Policy
We operate a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. Any form of forced labour, servitude, debt bondage, child labour, or exploitation is strictly prohibited within our business and among our suppliers and contractors. We expect everyone working with or for Movers Surrey to share this commitment and to uphold the same high standards of ethics and respect for human rights.
Our zero-tolerance stance is reflected in our internal policies, supplier terms, and staff training. We will not knowingly engage with any organisation that is involved in, or fails to take adequate steps to prevent, modern slavery within its operations or supply chains.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We are committed to working only with suppliers and contractors that meet our ethical and legal requirements. As part of our onboarding and ongoing management of suppliers, we carry out proportionate checks designed to assess the risk of modern slavery. These checks may include requesting information on employment practices, verification of right-to-work procedures, and evidence of compliance with relevant labour laws.
Where we identify higher-risk suppliers or categories of supply, we may undertake more detailed due diligence and audits. This can involve reviewing contracts, examining payroll and working hours information, and, where appropriate, conducting site visits. Any identified non-compliance or concern is taken seriously and may result in corrective action plans, closer monitoring, suspension of work, or termination of the relationship.
Training, Awareness, and Reporting Channels
We aim to build awareness among our employees and key contractors so they can recognise and report signs of modern slavery. Relevant staff receive training on our modern slavery policy, potential risk indicators, and the steps to take if they have concerns about a colleague, supplier, or contractor.
Everyone working for or with Movers Surrey is encouraged to speak up if they suspect that modern slavery may be occurring in any part of our business or supply chain. Concerns can be raised confidentially through our internal reporting channels, including line management and designated senior management contacts. We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.
Governance, Monitoring, and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery sits with senior management, who ensure that risks are identified, mitigated, and escalated where necessary. We monitor the effectiveness of our measures through the review of supplier assessments, audit findings, incident reports, and feedback from employees and contractors.
This statement is reviewed and updated annually to reflect changes in our business, supply chains, and applicable legislation, as well as to capture learning from our ongoing risk management activities. As part of the annual review, we consider the need for enhanced due diligence, additional training, and improvements to our reporting mechanisms. By continuously evaluating our approach, Movers Surrey seeks to strengthen its defences against modern slavery and to promote fair and safe working conditions throughout our operations and supply chains.
